HMCS Terra Nova was commissioned on June 6, 1959, and named for the Terra Nova River that flows through the centre of Newfoundland. The front of the coin features the ship’s crest in gold and red over a grey background, along with the ship’s mascot, a penguin and includes the inscription “Westploy ’73, 29 Jan – 28 Jun 1973.”
